How to Choose Your R.A Studio Size: A Women’s Fit Guide
Body measurements, finished-garment measurements and the room a silhouette needs—here is a simpler way to choose your R.A Studio size.
Choosing a size online becomes much simpler once you separate two things: your body measurements and the measurements of the finished garment. They work together, but they are not the same number.
This guide explains how to measure your shoulder, bust, waist and hips, how to read R.A Studio’s women’s clothing size charts, and how to think about the amount of room you enjoy in a tunic, dress, bottom or co-ord set.

Body size and garment size are different
A body measurement describes you. A finished-garment measurement describes the actual piece of clothing. The garment usually needs some room for movement and for the shape the designer intended, so your body bust should not automatically be matched to the same bust number in a garment chart.
The right amount of room also changes with the piece. A relaxed tunic, a shaped dress and a pair of pants do not sit on the body in the same way. Fabric and construction matter too. Use the size guide to understand the numbers, then check the product details for the exact style you are considering.
Begin with four useful measurements
Use a soft tape measure, keep it level, and let it sit comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.
1. Shoulder
Measure across your back from one shoulder point to the other. This is especially useful when choosing tunics, tops, kurtas, dresses and jumpsuits.
2. Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your bust. Keep the tape level around your body and comfortably close.
3. Waist
Measure around your natural waist. Keep the tape easy rather than pulling it tight.
4. Hip
Measure around the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape level. A mirror can help you check that it has not tilted.
See the illustrated steps in How to measure.
Compare a garment you already enjoy wearing
Your body measurements are the starting point. For a more useful comparison, look at a similar garment in your wardrobe that feels the way you like. Compare its proportions with the relevant finished-garment chart, and think about whether you want the new piece to feel close, easy or deliberately relaxed.
This simple comparison is often more informative than choosing from a letter size alone. It gives you a familiar reference for movement, length and room.
Choose the chart for the piece
R.A Studio’s Size Guide separates the measurements by garment type:
- Tops, Tunics, Dresses, Jumpsuits and Kurtas for Women: compare shoulder, bust and hip.
- Women’s Pants and Skirts: compare waist, hip and full length.
- Co-ord Sets: check both the upper and lower pieces before choosing.
The guide’s tables are in inches and describe the finished garment. Individual products and cuts can differ, so also review the size information shown with the piece you want to order.
A co-ord set needs two checks
A co-ord brings a top and a bottom together, which means one size has to work across two silhouettes. Read the top chart for shoulder, bust and hip, then read the bottom chart for waist, hip and full length.
If those two checks point you towards different sizes, ask the R.A Studio design team about that particular set before ordering. They can help you understand its cut and discuss what may be possible.
What if you are between two sizes?
There is no single rule that works for every style. Begin with the garment’s cut and the amount of room you prefer. Compare a similar piece you own, read the product details, and consider how the fabric and silhouette may change the way it feels.
If you are still deciding, use the Fit Guidance & Custom Fit enquiry. Custom fit or alteration is an enquiry rather than an automatic promise; the team will confirm what is possible for the selected garment.
Find the garment you want to size
Once you know which chart you need, continue with the category that matches your piece:
A few common size-guide questions
Can I match my body bust directly to the bust in the chart?
Not necessarily. The chart gives the finished garment measurement. The garment may need room for movement and for the intended silhouette.
Should I always choose the larger size when I am between sizes?
Not automatically. The better choice depends on the cut, fabric and how much room you like. Compare the piece with a similar garment you enjoy wearing or ask about the particular style.
Do all R.A Studio styles fit in the same way?
No. Shape, construction and fabric can change how a garment feels. Use the main guide to understand the measurements and check the details for the exact product.
Can I request a custom fit or alteration?
You can send the design team an enquiry with the product or order details and your measurements. The team will review the garment and confirm what is possible.
